It was very hard to
keep up this week who was on team who. Firstly we have team Silas, Damon,
Silas, Jeremy and Elena who are focused on bringing Bonnie back. Then there is
team Tessa, Tessa and Stefan who aim to kill Silas. Then there is Team
Caroline, Caroline and Katherine band together to try and discover Dr. Maxfield’s
secrets.
Katherine is
enjoying her second chance, however she finds a patch of grey hair and starts
to worry, with no place to go she heads to Whitmore for a place to crash.
Caroline reluctantly agrees to let Katherine help her compel Dr Maxfield to
forget that Elena and Caroline are vampires in order for them to stay at college.
Damon and Elena are
enjoying a tiny moment of peace which is interrupted by a super happy Silas,
due to the fact he will die and be reunited with his one true love. Silas
promises the gang that he will bring Bonnie back but he needs their help to
find the anchor to destroy it so that he does not end up in purgatory. He doesn’t
want Elena to come along on the trip so she is left behind whilst Damon and
Jeremy head out to New Jersey with him. (Silas is actually quite witty, good
character from Julie Plec and co. And well done to Paul Wesley for creating
such a difference from Stefan/ripper Stefan)
Stefan wakes up
after a heavy night of drinking with Tessa, she is happy because Silas is
mortal and she can finally kill him, however he is one step ahead and casts a
spell to trap them into the cabin where they are staying. Tessa tells him that
Silas will not be able to destroy the anchor once he finds it. (Hmmm... I
predicted the outcome of this but more on that later)
Twiddling her thumbs
at home Elena calls Stefan and gets through to Tessa who pushes her buttons,
Elena storms over to the cabin but also is trapped once she steps inside. Tessa
tells Damon to kill Silas and threatens to kill Elena unless he does it by
sundown. Elena is upset as she knows Damon will not put her life before anyone
else and therefore they cannot bring Bonnie back if Silas is dead.
Katherine and
Caroline drain Dr Maxfield of his blood in order to get the vervain out of his
system. They learn from him that there is a secret society on Campus that have
the Augustein vampire, which is the one the killed Meghan. He tells the girls
that Elena was going to be invited to the gathering until they suspected she
was a vampire. The test would be that she couldn’t get over the threshold. Handy
that it is Katherine then...she goes along to the ball as Elena and bumps into
Aaron. Upon eating the feast at the gathering she loses a tooth, adding to her
worry, she turns to Dr Maxfield and blackmails him into saving her as she
thinks she is dying. 
In the storage unit
Damon runs into some travellers who tell him that they don’t want Silas dead
yet, Damon removes them from the equation and they finally locate the Anchor.
The Anchor is Amara, and Silas wakes her up, confused she stabs Silas and
drinks his blood saying she doesn’t want to live another day and runs away from
him and the voices that are in her head. (I think she can hear the dead on the
other side)
At the cabin, Stefan
and Tessa are flirting but it is all a rouse he tells Elena he won’t let Tessa
hurt her, he stabs her as soon as it is sundown and they escape. Elena thanks
Stefan for helping her and is pleased that even without his memories his instinct
is to protect her. Tessa is waiting for Stefan and feeling the betrayal from
him she acts out her revenge by restoring his painful memories and telling him
to remember who it was that saved him from the watery grave.
Finally
Damon has a surprise for Elena, something that they have to look after and protect,
Amara another doppelganger in the mix.
Final
Thoughts:
I
cannot wait to see how Amara will differ from the other two.
Why
did she stab Silas, did she really love him or is there another twist. I’m
hoping that there is and that Silas isn’t her true love i.e. hope for Damon.
How
will Stefan feel now that his memories are back.
What
is Aaron’s deal, what vital role is he going to play.
Will Silas be able to destroy the Anchor(Amara)?
